To those in need:

 

I want to share with you my feelings about my encounter with the Burnhams.

 My husband and I went through several rough years. Counseling was recommended of which we did and did and did.

After SEVERAL counselors, a few of them pastors of a church, we got nowhere. My experience was that they were adding to our problems. Then Jon Burnham was recommended just when I was convinced that divorce was inevitable. I cannot express enough how I DID NOT want to go to another counselor. In desperation we went anyway. I prayed and fought with my husband during the hour-long drive to Jon’s office. I said, "Lord if this man does not have a clue, if he does not give us biblical counseling, this is it! I would rather be divorced than to live as the world lives!!!" Often, the other counselors would speak from a worldly view of marriage like, ‘men are just that way.’ WHAT????????? You mean no one cares what God thinks? I certainly did and do. Pleasing Him is not just a good idea to me it was imperative not only to have a sane marriage, but also for our soul’s sake. To me it looked like biblical principles were a thing of the past and no one was applying them in counseling!!! 

To our surprise we found the counselor. Our appointment was an hour long. When we were done all I could think of was that he is sooooooo good we won't be able to afford him. After the session I had gone to the bathroom and when I came out I quietly asked my husband what they charge, thinking he had already paid. As he scooted me out the door he said it was by donation. I could not believe it, nor could my husband because if we had a million dollars in our account I believe we would have written it over to him.

I know this sounds a little stretched, I promise you it is not. It was as if Jon had walked with us through our marriage. I prayed with all of my heart for a counselor such as Jon, God’s timing was perfect. I DON'T WANT TO LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THAT THIS ONE SESSION FIXED EVERYTHING FOR US. WE HAD MANY MORE SESSIONS WITH HIM. WHAT WE REALIZED WAS THAT WE  WERE FINALLY GOING TO GET THE HELP WE NEEDED. We had much work to do on our own, but now we had a guide to help, someone who knows the power and worth of living a biblical life. 

So, if you too are praying and in trouble please take time right now and give Family Focus a call.  You will be glad you did. Pray as I did on the way. Pray for God to speak through His Word and that you would do what God tells you to do. Relax. Help is on the way!

I am still married and it is nothing short of a miracle. I continue to support Jon and Bev today. I truly thank God for them and their Bible based Ministry.
